What is Sleep Score?

Sleep Score analyzes your sleep patterns, offering invaluable insights to enhance your recovery, energy levels, and overall health.

What is Sleep Score?

Sleep Score is a comprehensive metric that provides a snapshot of the quality and efficiency of your sleep. It condenses a night's rest into a single, easy-to-understand number. The Sleep Score feature in Bevel analyzes various parameters, such as sleep duration, sleep stages, and disruptions, to evaluate your sleep quality.

How to interpret Sleep Score

The Sleep Score ranges from 0% to 100%, with higher scores indicating better sleep quality. Regardless of the specific number, your Sleep Score is a tool for improvement. It's not about achieving a perfect score every night, but about recognizing opportunities to make progress.

If you notice a consistently lower Sleep Score, dig into the detailed data provided in the Trends section of the Sleep page. Look for patterns, such as disturbances, variations in sleep duration, or other influencing factors. This information can guide you in making the informed changes that are best for your personal sleep routine.

What influences Sleep Score?

Understanding the factors that influence your Sleep Score is pivotal in improving the quality of your sleep. Your Sleep Score is calculated using the following:

Time Asleep: The amount of time you spend asleep significantly affects your Sleep Score. As individual sleep needs vary, Bevel considers your personal sleep goal when calculating your score.

Sleep Stages: Your sleep consists of different stages, including light sleep, deep sleep, and REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. The balance between these stages is crucial. Your Sleep Score takes into account the ideal distribution of these stages.

Heart Rate Dip: Your heart rate during sleep is closely tied to the different sleep stages, especially the deeper, more restful stages of sleep. Therefore, a larger heart rate dip can lead to a better Sleep Score.

Sleep Efficiency: Sleep efficiency is a measure of the percentage of time spent in bed that is actually devoted to sleeping. Maximizing sleep efficiency involves minimizing disruptions during the night and optimizing your bedtime routine. The closer your time spent asleep aligns with the time spent in bed, the higher your sleep efficiency and overall Sleep Score.
